Trip to Virginia-- Day 1

The week after spring break in April, we took the kids back to Virginia to spend some time with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many extended family members.  We flew out of LAX.  The kids had so much fun waiting for the plane to come to the gate.

Jared was so excited to finally be on a plane.  I don't think he slept the whole 6 hours.

We met my parents and took the kids to the Udvar-Hazy museum.
They loved being able to steer a real plane that was in the museum.

The space shuttle Discovery.  It was so interesting to see it up close. You could see the burn marks from where it entered the earth's atmosphere.  Jared's favorite parts were the burners at the end.  He thought they were really cool.

Then we went to the Air and Space museum at the National Mall.  I thought the Mars Rover was pretty amazing.  The kids loved all of the planes that were hanging from the ceiling.

Our silly Emma was having fun in the hot air balloon exhibit.

The Wright brothers plane was so cool.  It is still hard to believe that it flew.
A group picture on the Mall.
